Brain Awareness Week – March 14th-20th

Brain Awareness Week (BAW) was launched in 1985 by the Dana Foundation to raise awareness for brain research, and now every March partner organisations from across the world get involved. Activities range from lectures on neuroscience and school workshops to laboratory open days.

Mental health is an increasing global health concern and therefore any research that can help us understand the scientific reactions causing these illnesses or help us treat the growing number of mental health patients is vital. Mental health problems are found within every community in every country, and the Mental Health Foundation states that there are 450 million people world-wide living with a mental health problem. The fact that 1 in 4 adults in the UK suffer from mental health illness, makes it a concern both at home, and worldwide.
